We are excited for you to move into your residence hall! Our Student Life team is here to help make this process easy so that you can get settled in as quickly as possible. To ensure that your transition to NCSSM is smooth and enjoyable, please review the general move-in process outlined below.
PRE-ARRIVAL TO-DO LIST
Before you arrive, there are several things that you can do to prepare for move in.
Be sure to complete all of the items on the Pre-Flight Tasklist before you arrive to campus. Please note that you will NOT be permitted to move in until your Canvas Orientation is complete and ALL forms have been submitted.
You will receive your residence hall & room assignment notification by email with instructions to log in to Blackbaud in mid-July. Please check out the Resources page on this site for information regarding room sizes and photos.
Review the Suggested Items to Bring, the Room Occupancy and Safety Guidelines, the Room Decoration Guidelines, the Orientation Schedule, and other helpful resources available on the Resources page of this site.

CAMPUS MAP
Please review the campus map shared below to determine where your designated unloading zone is located and to familiarize yourself with campus.
DASHBOARD
CARD
Please PRINT the appropriate dashboard card (linked below) for your assigned residence hall and place the card on the dash of your vehicle so that it is visible through your windshield.
One card is needed for each vehicle in order to be admitted on to campus. These cards allow NCSSM staff to direct campus traffic more easily.
PARK & UNLOAD
Upon arriving to campus, please pull your vehicle into the designated unloading zone closest to your residential building. NCSSM Campus Safety officers will be available to direct traffic and give directions as needed.
Introduce yourself to the NCSSM faculty and staff at the unloading zone. They will be wearing blue NCSSM t-shirts and will help get you and your belongings to your room. It is strongly recommended that you bring a hand truck or dolly to help you move your belongings. Please note that we are NOT able to provide these for you.
Unload your vehicle and move it immediately to a nearby parking lot to free up space for other families. Please do NOT park in the unloading zone for longer than 10 minutes. Designate a family member to stay with your belongings while your vehicle is moved. We ask that you please be patient; our parking areas are small and it may take some time to find a space.
We strongly encourage you to label all of your belongings with your name, residence hall, and room assignment. In the event that items are misplaced, this will allow us to quickly reunite items with their owners.
CHECK IN
Once you arrive to your residence hall, check in with your Community Coordinator. Your Community Coordinator will provide you with a room key, an access pass, and a Room Condition Report (RCR). The Residential Life Assistants (RLAs) on your hall will then escort you to your room and help you select a set of furniture.
Take a few minutes to inspect your room to see if there are any discrepancies between your RCR and the actual condition of your room. You and your family must sign the RCR and return it to your Community Coordinator before they leave campus. If there are discrepancies, then notate them on the RCR to ensure that you will not be held financially accountable for any pre-existing damages when you move out.
MOVE IN
Once you've completed your RCR, begin unpacking and setting up your room. Don't worry, there will be plenty of time to make changes!
After you have moved into your room, please remove all trash and dispose of it properly. Recycling is available on campus by the PEC Gymnasium.
Please note that certain prescription medication (e.g. narcotics, psychotropics, or stimulants) must be retained and distributed by the Student Health Clinic. If you will be arriving with prescription medication, please take it to the Clinic on Move-In Day.
Take some time to review the Orientation Schedule to make sure that you know where you are supposed to be and when.
